I just moved to Louisville from Columubus, OH a little over a month ago, and have gotten out for a few easy rides, but I'm still getting used to the hills. I'm looking at getting back to racing, but right now I'm riding unattached.
Are there any race in Louisville at all during the summer? The best I've seen so far is two races in Lexington and one at the Gorge.
I'm also coming from an area where we had Wednesday World's, a complete hammerfest one a week where all the local pros would come out and ride everyone off their wheels. Are there any good group rides here?
Thanks. |

Jonathan, Welcome to Louisville. There is a strong local scene here. Check out racelistings.com for local and regional events in and around Louisville. The LMPD Crit is coming up, along with another crit at Norton Commons. Of course you also have some national event here like Masters Nationals and the USGP of Cyclocross. There is a Tuesday Night Worlds here made up of of mostly local CAT 1-4 racers. It's a 28 mile loop that starts at Cycler's Cafe on Lexington Road every Tuesday night at 6:30. There is also a Thursday ride, same route, same time that's a little smaller and less intense. Also, check out the louisville bicycle club website for a tamer club ride schedule (although a number of these get going pretty good as well). If you ride on one of these make sure to introduce yourself to any of us here on Team Louisville. We're one of about eight local teams here in the area (but we're the friendliest). |
